In the past few years television has broadened its horizons when it comes to black women being leading ladies! Within this year alone we have become attached to shows that emulate our life or take us out of our life into someone else’s. We weren’t the only ones saddened when we got news that Being Mary Jane, The Carmichael Show and Survivor’s Remorse were in their final seasons this year. Although we won’t be seeing their characters on television, we still were given great hair moments from these leading ladies that the any woman can wear!
Being Mary Jane – Gabrielle Union
“The Bob Cut”
On season 4 of Being Mary Jane we could not wait to see what Mary Jane’s new hair style would be. From middle part weaves to flowing wigs we knew this season would bring hair happiness and Mary Jane’s bob cut did just that.
Being Mary Jane – Lisa Vidal
“The Two Toned”
Not everyone can rock two toned hair, but in every season Kara Lynch showed us a new and improved way to rock it. By adding lighter highlights or bouncy curls this go getter producer knew exactly what she was working with!
Survivor’s Remorse – Erica Ash
“The Side Braid”
If her funny side comments and strong views did not win you over, her hair styles did. In the past 2 seasons of Survivor’s Remorse, Erica Ash, aka M-Chuck showed us that the side braid was still in style. Rocking it with curly or straight hair we loved every bit of it.
The Carmichael Show – Amber Stevens West and Tiffany Haddish
The Middle and Side Part
You can never go wrong with a hair part. It can be straight down the middle or a deep side part, this style is a classic. The leading ladies, Maxine and Nekeisha, showed us in 3 short seasons that whether it’s long curls or hlightled shoulder length bobs, parts do work in your favor!
Although we won’t be seeing these leading ladies hair styles on their hit shows, we will keep a close eye out for own personal hair styles for inspiration.
